Soak the chick-peas for at least 24 hours. Put them in an earthenware dish and cook slowly adding some boiling water (it would be best to cook them by the fire place, but a pre-heated oven 180° C. - 356° F - is just the same). Roast the chestnuts and then cut them into pieces. Add them to the cooked chick-peas. If desired you could add a boiled, mashed potato to thicken the sauce and a little "soffritto" fried onion and garlic, por extra flavour.
